Would you like to take part in DNA Y-chromosome testing and add to the Farrar database? Because only the Y chromosome is tested, please be rest assured that the results are only useful for Genealogical purposes.

The results so far of Farrar/Farrer/Farrah families

DNA testing offers exciting possibilities as it can be used to establish if links exist between different families.

Because the Y-chromosome passes from father to son, and is stable for hundreds of years, it can be used to establish if two or more people share a common ancestor.

If two people are tested, and the test results are identical, then it proves that an uninterrupted male to male line exists back to a common ancestor.

It the test produces similar results, then a male to male link to a common ancestor may exist, but it suggests that the line has been broken at some point.

Testing is simple, a swab is brushed on the inside of the inner cheeks, and it is then posted for to the laboratory.

The above results were processed by Oxford Ancestors in the UK. If you would like join in the scheme, please use the same people as different laboratories may produce different results. Testing is not cheap, please check their website for the latest information. The company will provide a simple kit and post the results together with a personalised certificate.

Please then e-mail to henry@heritagesites.eu.com the 9 marker numbers, together with your earliest known male ancestor (father to son relationship only) so that the numbers can be checked against the database.
